Motherhood, The Mundane and Abundant Life

Have you ever wished you could peek behind the curtain and get a backstage view of what God was doing? I know I have. In the moments when life is hard and doesn’t make much sense, I’ve found myself overwhelmed with curiosity. And particularly in seasons when God has called me to wait, I have found myself getting frustrated. I just want to jump ahead and know what He is unfolding.

But, the invitation for each of us is take a breath. Slow down and recognize the pace of grace might be a little slower. And in the midst of stress, overwhelm and wonder, we can find ourselves resting in the arms of God. And as you’ll hear in this conversation, my guest and I will circle around that beautiful invitation from God.

Several months ago, I got connected with an incredible woman on Instagram. I stumbled into Kathryn’s account and started following along. I loved the way that she so authentically shared the love of Christ and modeled what it looks like to follow Him in daily life.

She is a wife and mom of four sweet kiddos and is also a writer. Her ministry is one that is sweet, gentle and authentic. She shows us with her life what it looks like to allow God to work in all things and through all things.

What We Talk About

  • Discipleship in the mundane moments
  • Waiting on God with expectancy
  • Finding rest in the middle of the mess
  • Leading by example
  • Obediently sharing your story and following Jesus

Why It Matters

For each of us, not matter what station in life we hold, we have a calling from Christ to make disciples. That means, in our home, school, workplace, etc., we are called to invite people deeper into relationship with Jesus. Just as Kathryn shows us, we have a biblical responsibility to leverage our life and the platforms that God places before us to draw people to Christ.

Kathryn speaks about just being obedient and stepping into things God opens to her. Even as we spoke, I was reminded (and yeah, convicted) about the invitation we each have to be openhanded in all things. We get a beautiful invitation from God to recognize that He holds all things in His hands. He is faithful to lead us if we’re willing to follow. Throughout all of life, leadership, ministry, etc., this invitation is made a reality when we root ourselves in intimacy with God. It’s through finding our place in His arms that we’re freed to follow, to receive abundance and to have true rest.

Throughout this conversation, I believe that you’ll be reminded about that same invitation. Root yourself in Christ. Abide in Him and you’ll find a life you’ve never imagined.

As Kathryn and I spoke about Sabbath and finding restful rhythms, it may have stirred some questions in your own life about finding that kind of rest. Especially in leadership, that can feel like an ever evasive idea. But, it’s totally possible for you! After the show, we had a follow up conversation and a few books came up during that time.
